2001 dodge dakota review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The baby bear would love this one. introductiondodge dakota takes the middle ground in terms of size. Some people find full-size pickups too big, and smaller, compact trucks too small. For them, the dakota seems just right. The dakota is larger than the ford ranger, chevy s-10, gmc sonoma, toyota tacoma and other so-called compact pickups, but it's not quite as big as a ford f-150 or chevy silverado.  for 2001, the biggest news is a redesigned interior with a more car-like feel. lineupdodge dakota is available in three cab configurations: regular cab, club cab, and quad cab. Club cabs are only available with two doors.  choose from three trim levels: base, sport and slt. Base regular cab 2wd retails for $13,910; sport regular cab 2wd goes for $14,695; and slt regular cab sells for $16,810. Sport trim adds better seats and interior trim and upgrades to the exterior. The 4. 7-liter was new to the dakota line last year. Available on 2wd regular or club cabs, the dakota r/t sport group includes aggressive (255/55r17) tires mounted on 17-inch aluminum wheels, heavy-duty stabilizer bars, and a limited-slip rear differential. The r/t is lowered 1 inch. The package adds bucket seats, fog lights, special trim and a long list of convenience items. It adds $2,420 to a club cab and $2,380 to a regular cab. walkarounddakota shares its freightliner styling with the full-size dodge ram. Bold lines give it a big, burley look, like it's ready to take on anything that comes its way.  regular and club cabs have a 6-foot 6-inch bed - a good size for a compact truck. The quad cab, on the other hand, has a 5-foot 3-inch bed. According to dodge, people seldom need the full length of the longer bed. Those who need more cargo space can consider an optional bed extender -an aluminum cage that flips over the lowered tailgate to extend the bed by 18 inches. Sometimes the bed extender works great, but a lowered tailgate with a mesh opening won't hold dirt back like longer bed with a solid tailgate. The instrument panel is easier to reach and easier to use, and almost all of the switchgear has changed. One example is the new rotary dial for the electronic transfer case, replacing the lever used previously. Door trim and carpeting are updated, as are the center and overhead consoles. Leather is now optional on quad cab. The driver sits high and there are no obvious blind spots. Optional 6x9-inch mirrors improve visibility rearward. The quad cab is roomy and comfortable. The front seat is a 40/20/40 split. The wide console works well as a storage area for miscellaneous junk, but it gets in the way when fastening seat belts. A pullout cup holder at the foot of the center section is a nice touch. Getting in and out of the rear seat is aided by the fact that there is no cutout for the rear wheels (like there is in many sport-utilities). There's good knee room, but not a lot of foot space for stretching legs. Like most of the smaller crew cab pickups, the rear seat back is bolt upright, and not very comfortable. There's plenty of headroom in the rear seats, however. Children and smaller adults should be happy back there, but taller folk will find the space confining. Unlike some suvs, the rear windows on the quad cab roll all the way down.  a better use for the rear of the quad cab is to fold the rear 60/40 split bench seats entirely out of the way for a nice, secure storage area. Not all compact trucks allow the seats to be folded out of the way like these on the dodge. It also features a trip computer and odometer that reports fuel economy and fuel tank range. The console is part of the overhead convenience group 1160) and includes compartments for sunglasses and garage door openers, auto-dimming rearview mirror and map lights. driving impressionthe dodge dakota sport 4x4 quad cab is smooth and comfortable. Wind noise is a companion at higher speeds.  the rotary dial for transfer case is easy to reach and operate. We hit one particularly sandy section and switched easily into 4wd without dropping speed. Later, on a steep hill, we switched into 4wd-low and easily walked up a hill that had a good 15-degree grade.  on washboard sections of hard-packed dirt roads in 2wd, the back end has a tendency to lose grip at speed - common in unloaded pickups. We were impressed with the quad cab's turning radius. For a truck its length, it makes relatively tight turns.  the brakes deliver straight and true stopping power. It's a powerful little devil, rated at 235 horsepower and 295 foot-pounds of torque. The 4. 7-liter engine can be paired with a five-speed manual or dodge's new 'multi-speed' automatic transmission. This transmission was designed in tandem with the 4. 7-liter engine and they are precisely calibrated to each other. Its onboard computer continuously adjusts the shift pattern to match the way the truck is driven. A tall first gear ratio gives the driver better initial acceleration. It selects one of two second-gear ratios based on load and driver input. Its reverse gear uses a ratio equal to the first gear, beneficial when backing up with a heavy trailer. summarydodge dakota is a solid, well-built truck that can be fun to drive. 2004 dodge ram 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Hemi v8 and all-wheel drive available. introductionthe dodge ram represents an excellent choice among full-size light-duty pickups. That's saying something considering the renaissance of all-new pickups from ford and nissan for 2004, along with strong entries from chevrolet and gmc, and a new toyota double cab. It would not be an overstatement to call 2004 the best model year for full-size pickups in the history of the automobile. The competition is better than ever, but so is the ram, which stands tall among its competitors.  completely redesigned and re-engineered for the 2002 model year, this latest-generation dodge ram boasts high levels of refinement and comfort. It's smoother and more comfortable than the previous-generation models. Its interior is more convenient than before and the bold exterior styling looks terrific. Changes for 2004 only improve the ram's impressive towing and hauling capabilities.  a new hemi v8 engine brings more power and efficiency to the dodge ram line of pickups. Added late during the 2003 model year, the 5. 7-liter hemi replaces the old 5. 9-liter v8, increasing power by 100 horsepower and 40 pounds-feet of torque while improving fuel economy by 10 percent. Dodge claims the hemi makes the ram 1500 lineup the most powerful mass-production light-duty pickup on the market. More important than claims, it is an exceptionally good engine, smooth and very responsive. Adding to the responsiveness of this engine is a new five-speed automatic transmission. The laramie trim package has been upgraded for 2004, and new options have been added, including a bluetooth-enabled cellular telephone. lineupdodge ram is available with two cab configurations, regular cab and quad cab (no extended cab). Quad cab models ride on a wheelbase that's 20 inches longer than comparable regular cab models. Quad cab adds $4,200 to $5,200 to the retail price.  two bed lengths are available, a 6-foot, 3-inch standard bed and an 8-foot long-bed. Ordering the long bed adds 20 inches to the wheelbase. Therefore, a long-bed quad cab is a long truck, long on roominess and utility, but not the easiest to turn around. Long-bed rams also get a bigger fuel tank, 35 gallons in place of the standard 26-gallon tank. Long beds add $300-$350 to the price.  three engines are offered: most popular is the 4. 7-liter v8, a modern overhead-cam engine. The most powerful engine in the line is the new 5. 7-liter hemi v8, which uses with hemispherical combustion chambers for improved airflow and burn. The new hemi produces 345 horsepower and 375 foot-pounds of torque. When properly equipped, that increases the towing capacity to 9200 pounds and payload by an additional 500 pounds. The 5. 7-liter hemi adds $795 to the price. For those who want maximum economy, there's a 3. 7-liter v6 available, but only with two-wheel drive.  a five-speed manual transmission is standard with the 3. 7-liter v6 and 4. 7-liter v8. Optional is a five-speed automatic 1,170) that includes an alternate second gear for hill-climbing and towing. St is the base level, starting at $19,420. It comes standard with air conditioning, but is equipped with wind-up windows, manual door locks, and vinyl upholstery. It comes standard with the 4. 7-liter v8, and adds cloth upholstery, nicer interior trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a host of convenience items, and wider tires. For 2004, the laramie package adds an all-chrome grille surround and chrome billet grill center. Laramie retails for $7,800-$8,900 more than the base level.  sport trim features body-colored grille, bumpers and side moldings, and includes fog lights and 17-inch aluminum wheels, and is available for most models. Aggressive street-rodder 20-inch wheels and tires are also available.  option packages include an off-road package 870-$1,405) with unique 17-inch aluminum wheels on lt275/70r17 off-road tires, 3. 92 rear axle, limited-slip differential, skid plates for the transfer case and front suspension, special shocks, tow hooks, fog lamps, and a heavy-duty cooling system. A work special package is designed to deliver affordability with gray bumpers, grille, and 17x7 steel wheels. A new hands-free cellular telephone system is available for 2004 that uses bluetooth technology. There's also a new integrated radio/navigation system available.  new for 2004 is the dodge ram srt-10, an outrageous pickup with 500 horsepower and 525 lbs.-ft. Its v10 engine, a new bored and stroked aluminum engine block taken from the dodge viper, displaces 505 cubic inches. The ram srt-10 boasts a custom-tuned suspension that drops the ride height 1 inch in front and 2. 5 inches in the rear. New front and rear strut assemblies and a rear sway bar were added to handle the increased cornering loads. Bilstein mono-tube shock absorbers, performance-tuned springs, and unique aerodynamic aids are designed to keep the ram srt-10 planted at high speeds, along with 22-inch wheels fitted with 305/40 r22 pirelli scorpion tires for extra adhesion. The brakes are modified with new 15-inch rotors in front and ram heavy duty 14-inch rotors in the rear; front and rear brakes fea. walkaroundthe dodge ram presents a bold, distinctive appearance with its big horse-collar grille and freightliner fenders. The basic look goes back 10 years, but received a major redesign for 2002. Modern and contemporary, the current design improved on the best of the previous, ground-breaking design. We think it looks terrific. The dodge ram is arguably the best-looking pickup in an increasingly spiffy field. Deep molten red has been added to the pallet of exterior colors for 2004.  few grilles are as instantly recognizable as the massive horse collar grille of the ram. The color of the grille provides some trim-level identification: the outside rim is all chrome on the slt model, with a gray honeycomb center. 2004 laramie models boast a new chrome grille and are further distinguished by chrome bodyside moldings. Sport trim includes a body-color surround and cross hairs with unique chrome billets in the center.  moving rearward, the ram presents robust appearance. The broad, sloping hood has a pronounced crown that falls over the sides to the prominent front fenders. A fast, raked-back windshield enhances aerodynamics and water management, and gives the ram a modern appearance. The leading edge of the front door overlaps the a-pillar, creating a smooth transition from the front of the cab to the side. Everything is smooth and integrated. The big side mirrors, great for visibility, are mounted on platforms to reduce wind noise, and a channel has been specially designed to keep water off of the mirrors. An integrated air dam aids engine cooling and air conditioner performance.  the standard bed length is 6 feet, 3 inches, but an 8-foot bed is available for both quad cab and regular cab models. The longest model is the quad cab with 8-foor bed, which rides on a 160. 5-inch wheelbase; that's 20 inches longer than short-bed quad cab or long-bed regular cab models, which increases the turning diameter by 6 feet; but it's just 3 inches longer than ford and chevy long-bed extended-cab models. That's seems high when trying to heave heavy gear aboard.  the most noticeable exterior feature of the new 2004 dodge ram srt-10 is a unique hood that features a wide power bulge and scoop sitting atop the signature cross-hair grille. interiorthe dodge ram is among the roomiest of the full-size pickups and its cab is a pleasant place to be. Dodge added 3 inches to the cab's total length when the ram was redesigned for 2002, stealing that space from the bed. Regular cab and quad cab versions offer identical roominess in the front seats.  the ram comes with a front bench seat split 40/20/40. The narrow center section features a large fold-down armrest with a compartment big enough to hold a laptop. We've found both the cloth and the leather seats comfortable, though they could use more support on the side bolsters. Laramie models get an updated interior for 2004, with silver trim adorning the door panels and instrument bezels. Laramie comes with distinctive leather trim, with new, higher contrast color seat inserts.  we've found the interior materials in rams to be good quality overall, though all is not perfect in truckville. The faux wood trim on the center stack reminds us of plastic. On leather-trimmed models, cloth is used on the inboard seat-bottom trim where leather would have offered a cleaner appearance. The cup holders can be fussy. However, the ram interior is quite nice and shows attention to details that add utility and convenience. The big fold-down center armrest/console comes with adjustable dividers and a power outlet. A hook on the passenger-side floor well is provided for securing a grocery bag or anything else with suitable handles. Air Conditioning✔ Leather Seats✔ Navigation System✔ Bluetooth✔ Aluminum Wheels

2007 dodge ram 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Never before have trucks been more capable for hauling and towing nor more competent at coddling passengers. There is no mistaking a ford f-150 for a nissan titan or a toyota tundra, or even a chevrolet silverado for a gmc sierra. And every one of them would be a good choice from a consumer's point of view.  but it was the ram that started the high-style-truck trend back in 1994 when dodge took a risk with a bold, retro big-rig design. That truck transformed ram from a bit player with staid styling to a big-stage event, and it's run with the big boys ever since, sometimes leading, sometimes trailing, but always solidly on the bill. Whether the '07 ram is merely as good as the trucks listed above, or somewhat better, is more a matter of personal preference than anything else.  the light-duty ram 1500 models are smooth and refined. Their cabs are comfortable and convenient, among the roomiest in their respective classes. The quad cab is handy for hauling friends and family but even the regular cab is roomy. Arguably, the ram is the best-looking truck on the market. Its styling is bold and handsome, even more so in its latest incarnation.  ram was extensively re-engineered for 2006, with a new hydroformed frame that's boxed its full length; plus new suspension and body mounts that improved ride, handling, and quietness. At the same time, ram was modestly restyled, with a new bumper fascia, grille, headlamps, fenders and wheels. Inside, the instrument panel, center console and seats were revised for more car-like comfort, while new radios and entertainment features were added.  the 2007 model year brings refinements that stress safety and efficiency. An electronic stability program and remote start are now optional. Fuel efficiency is enhanced on all ram 1500s by reduce-drag brake calipers and low-rolling-resistance tires. It is an exceptionally good engine, smooth and very responsive. The switchover is seamless, and fuel economy is improved by as much as 20 percent, says dodge. Step on the gas, however, and the cylinders reawaken, ready to deliver the 345 peak ponies that make the hemi-powered ram one of the most exciting light-duty pickups on the market. Adding to the hemi's responsiveness is a five-speed automatic.  ram's standard 4. 7-liter v8, while not as powerful as the hemi, delivers responsive performance and is smooth and sophisticated, benefiting from a modern overhead-cam design. For 2007, it's available with ffv capability (flexible-fuel vehicle), allowing the option of running on standard gasoline or e-85 ethanol. The mega cab is reviewed separately by new car test drive. There is no extended-cab ram.)  two bed lengths are available: a 6-foot, 3-inch short-bed and an 8-foot long-bed. Several engines are offered: a 3. 7-liter overhead-cam v6, 4. 7-liter v8, and the 5. 7-liter hemi v8. A six-speed manual transmission comes standard with the 3. 7-liter v6 and 4. 7-liter v8. A five-speed automatic is optional with the 4. 7-liter v8 and standard with the 5. 7-liter. Several trim levels are available:  st is the base model with vinyl upholstery and wind-up windows. St comes standard with air conditioning, am/fm/cd stereo, rear-wheel abs, 17-inch steel wheels and a full-size spare tire. Options include a navigation system, sirius satellite radio, uconnect bluetooth hands-free wireless communication, bucket seats with leather upholstery, six-way power driver seat and 20-inch aluminum wheels. A power sunroof and a rear-seat dvd entertainment system are available for slt quad cabs.  laramie is the luxury trim level. Leather seats are standard, with a split 40/20/40 bench up front and power adjustment for the driver. Laramie is available only with the quad cab and comes with the automatic transmission.  the ram sport comes with the hemi engine and five-speed automatic transmission, unique cloth-faced bucket seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, body-color grille and bumper fascia, fog lamps, and 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels. Options are the same as for the slt.  the trx4 off-road model comes with unique 17-inch aluminum wheels, p265 all-terrain tires, limited-slip differential, skid plates for the transfer case and front suspension, special red-painted shock absorbers, body-color grille surround, tow hooks, and fog lamps. Otherwise, trx4 is trimmed like an slt. Trx4 comes with 4wd only, but there's also a trx package for 2wd models. Options exclusive to trx4 include lt275 light-truck tires.  a trailer tow group includes a class iv hitch receiver, seven-circuit wiring harness, 750-amp battery, heavy-duty engine cooling and auxiliary transmission oil cooler when equipped with automatic transmission. There's also a work special package designed for affordability with gray bumpers, grille, and 17x7 steel wheels.  safety features include optional side-curtain airbags designed to provide head protection in a side impact or rollover. We recommend getting them; head injuries are the leading cause of death in side impacts. Three-point shoulder belts are provided at all locations, including the rear center seat. An electronic stability program (esp) is optional. walkaroundthe 2007 dodge ram presents a bold, distinctive appearance with its big horse-collar grille and freightliner fenders. The concept dates back a dozen years, but it received a major redesign for 2002 and a makeover for 2006. The headlamps cut back deeper into the fenders, and a flattened front bumper on sport and laramie emphasizes ram's big-rig image. A slot in the front bumper aids engine cooling and air conditioner performance.  ram's trademark front grille remains one of the most instantly recognizable front ends on the road. A thick band of chrome surrounds the grille on st, slt and laramie; the band is body color on sport models and grey on work specials. The broad, sloping hood has a pronounced crown that falls over the sides to the prominent front fenders.  a fast, raked-back windshield enhances aerodynamics and water management, while gracefully blending modern sleekness with ram's retro lower body. The leading edge of the front door overlaps the a-pillar, creating a smooth transition from the front of the cab to the side. Everything is smooth and integrated. The big side mirrors, great for visibility, are mounted on platforms to minimize wind noise, and a channel has been specially designed to keep water off of the mirrors. That seems high when trying to heave heavy gear aboard. All beds are fitted with boat cleats designed to handle 1,000 pounds each.  ordering the long bed adds 20 inches to the wheelbase of a dodge ram. And a quad cab wheelbase is 20 inches longer than a regular cab. So a quad cab long bed has 40 more inches of wheelbase than a regular cab short bed. Long-bed rams also get a bigger fuel tank, 35 gallons in place of the standard 26.  the frame is fully boxed and hydroformed. interiorthe dodge ram is among the roomiest of the full-size pickups, and its cab is a pleasant place to be. It sacrifices a few inches of bed space for interior space.  regular cab and quad cab versions offer identical roominess in the front seats. Standard front seating in the ram is a bench split 40/20/40. The narrow center section features a large fold-down armrest with a compartment big enough to hold a laptop. We've found both the cloth and the leather seats comfortable. The driving position is good, with good visibility in all directions, though the aerodynamic front end makes it impossible to see the front corners. Big mirrors on the ram make it easy to see what's behind.  we found the bucket seats in the sport version comfortable and supportive and the sporty fabric looks durable. New fabrics for '07 are designed to be more stain and odor-resistant than before, while also reducing static cling. Laramie models get silver trim adorning the door panels and instrument bezels. Laramie comes with distinctive leather trim, with higher-contrast color seat inserts.  the ram interior shows attention to details that add utility and convenience. The big fold-down center armrest/console comes with adjustable.

2001 dodge ram 2500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. A heavy-duty full-size with everyday comfort. introductionthough it's now the oldest design among current full-size pickups, the dodge ram may still be the best-looking truck on the market. Clearly, it's the most stylish.  it drives and rides well with quick steering and excellent brakes. Five engines are offered: 3. 9-liter v6, 5. 2-liter v8, 5. 9-liter v8, 8. 0-liter v10 and two cummins 5. 9-liter diesel inline-6 choices. Every engine comes with a choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Short and long beds are available.  the 5. 2-liter v8 produces 230 horsepower, while the 5. 9-liter v8 generates 245 horsepower and an impressive 335 pounds-feet of torque. The basic cummins diesel produces 235 horsepower and 460 pounds-feet of torque, while the new-for-2001 high-output version cranks out 245 horsepower and a stump-pulling 505 pounds-feet of torque.  standard, club cab and quad cab bodies are available in lt, laramie slt, and sst trim levels. The bold design with broad-shouldered front fenders is reminiscent of big freightliners steaming down the road with a full load of logs. It remains the best-looking pickup on the market. To improve structural rigidity, dodge designed a beam that runs laterally under the truck, and reinforced both the a and c pillars. Side door guard beams were also added to improve protection from side impacts.  the optional sport package comes with a body-colored grille and front and rear bumpers, decals, fog lamps, outline white letter tires, and cast aluminum wheels. The absence of a b-pillar makes it much easier to get in or out of the rear seat; it also makes it much easier to stick something behind the front seats. This includes a new steering wheel design, a big storage compartment, an extra power point, and new cupholders designed to handle any commercially available drink container. Other recent improvements include a keyless remote entry system, an upgraded base sound system, a cassette and cd sound system option and a new center console. The instrument pod features vacuum-fluorescent odometer and trip odometer that are tamperproof, and there are driver-programmable keyless entry key fobs. Other interior features include heated power mirrors, illuminated power door locks and window switches, and an optional security alarm system.  the front seat in all rams is divided 40/20/40, with a huge fold-down center section that doubles as armrest and writing table. When no one is sitting in it, the center position provides a large storage box, with divided spaces for coins, cassettes, maps or a laptop computer. The front seat belts are integrated into the seats themselves, which gets rid of messy hanging belts -- a particularly nice improvement for the wide-open quad cab doorway.  the quad cab rear seat is the same one used in other extended cab versions. It's handy for children, pets and petite adults, but it is not very comfortable for adults on long trips. The bench portion of the seat flips up out of the way effortlessly from either side for hauling tools or cargo. The power window option comes with an express-down switch on the driver's side. Steering wheel mounted radio controls are optional. There are two new overhead console designs; one with and one without trip computer. This engine has a ton of torque and a broad power band, which makes it a great deal of fun to drive. Passing is effortless. The manual transmission can add flexibility in off-road situations, but we recommend the automatic for street use. Rear suspension is a conventional live axle with leaf springs designed to carry heavy loads. The dodge v8 pickup truck has for years had a special kind of presence on the street, and the ram backs up that presence with excellent street manners and ride.  steering revisions that were new last year make steering much more precise than earlier models. Steering in the earlier rams was light and quick, but had a lot of dead space on-center and seemed to require constant left-right adjustments.  braking, with discs in front, drums in rear, is exemplary. The ram stops quickly with superb straight-line stability. Recent improvements to the instrumentation, powertrain and body combinations have made it an all-around better truck.

1998 dodge ram 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. With this year's introduction of a 4-door extended-cab pickup truck, dodge has fired yet another shot across the bow of ford, chevy and gmc, which offer only three doors on their extended-cabs. The new dodge quad cab, as it is called, is an option on all 1500 and 2500 extended cab trucks and it's standard on the big 3500 models.  that one major product advantage is backed up by a host of other significant changes for 1998 from one end of the ram family to the other. Interiors have been given a thorough makeover for the new year. Like all of the domestic pickups, the dodge ram is available in three load ratings: 1500, 2500, and 3500. Three engines are available: a 3. 9-liter v6, 5. 2-liter v8, 5. 9-liter v8 engines, 8. 0-liter v10 and a cummins 5. 9-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel. Every engine comes with a choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Output from the 5. 2-liter v8 has been raised from 220 to 230 horsepower and it earns an epa city/highway rating of 14/19 mpg when fitted with the 5-speed manual and two-wheel drive. Power from the 5. 9-liter v8 has been increased from 235 to 245 horsepower, with a jump in torque to 335 pound-feet; a two-wheel-drive automatic gets 13/17 mpg.  the cummins turbodiesel puts out 215 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of trailer-pulling torque. The v10 gasoline engine is rated at 300 tire-smoking horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The 3. 9-liter v6 is unchanged with 175 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque and fuel economy ratings of 15/19.  standard, club cab and quad cab bodies are available in lt, laramie slt, and sst trim levels. Regular-length beds are 6 1/2 feet long, optional long beds are 8 feet long.  improvements for 1998 include a new keyless remote entry system, an upgraded base sound system, a new cassette and cd sound system option, leather seat availability on slt versions, and a new sport plus package with 17-inch wheels and tires, suspension upgrades and 5. 9-liter v8 with sport exhausts. A number of under-the-skin upgrades have been made, including electrocoated frame paint, and new exterior and new interior colors are available.  dodge says the new quad cab design is as strong as a conventional pickup body shell even though it does not have a pillar between the doors. To improve structural rigidity, dodge engineers designed a beam that runs crossways under the truck and strengthened the a and c pillars. The absence of a b-pillar makes it much easier to get in or out of the rear seat; it also makes it much easier to stick something behind the front seats. This includes a new steering wheel design, a new set of reduced-force air bags, with a lockout for the passenger bag, a gaping storage hole, an extra power point, and new cupholders that will handle anything.  in order to get rid of a potentially messy array of dangling seat belts in the wide-open quad cab doorway, the designers have integrated the front seat belts into the seats themselves on all rams. The console has also been redesigned. The front seat in all rams is divided 40/20/40, with a huge fold-down central section that doubles as armrest and writing table. There's a substantial storage box inside the armrest portion with divided spaces for coins, cassettes, maps or even a laptop computer.  the rear seat in the quad cab is the same seat used in the conventional extended cab version of the truck. It's handy for children, pets and petite adults, but it is not comfortable for adults on long trips. The rear seat is fitted with two shoulder belts and one lap belt. Driving it made us think of the old muscle car drag racing days on woodward avenue in detroit. It's also a really flexible, driveable combination in off-road situations, much more so than the automatic. Rear suspension is a conventional live axle with leaf springs designed to carry heavy loads. We found the suspension delightfully smooth and supple on the street, aided by those big fat goodyear rt/s tires. But the body is so high off the ground that some passengers--particularly females--had a great deal of entry/exit difficulty even with a grab bar on the a-pillar.  one thing we didn't like about the ram's dynamics last year was the steering, which was light enough and quick enough, but had an enormous dead space on center, and seemed to require constant left-right adjustments to stay straight ahead. That has been fixed this year with a new steering gear setup and new steering geometry, and the feel of the truck is much more precise than earlier models.  braking, with discs in front, drums in rear, was exemplary. The ram stops quickly with superb straightline stability. Power Locks✔ Power Windows✔ Power Mirrors✔ Cruise Control✔ Air Conditioning✔ Aluminum Wheels✔ Sport Package✔ Alloy Wheels

2001 dodge ram 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. 1994 dodge ram 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. introductionfor years, full-size pickup shoppers scrutinized ford, chevy and occasionally gmc and then said: 'oh yeah-doesn't dodge make one too?'  that's changed-drastically. With its first truly complete pickup redesign in 22 years, dodge has served notice to customers that its new offering is worthy of switching brands. It's obvious that dodge was determined to stand out from its full-size ford, chevy and gmc competitors. Different it is.  there's also an array of muscle choices under the hood that ford, chevy and gmc currently can't match. Chrysler's tried-and-true 5. 2-liter 220-hp v8 won't disappoint either. While there's a difference of only 10 hp, the bigger engine has an impressive increase of 100 pound-feet of torque. Up the line, there's an optional stump-pulling cummins diesel six rated at 175 hp and a whopping 420 lb.-ft. Of torque and-watch out-a 300-hp v10 based on the dodge viper engine, scheduled for availability in 1995. The hood angles in gracefully to a distinctive grille set off by touches of honeycomb brass. The massive center-mount chrome front bumper is topped by a black vinyl step pad that integrates with a full width air dam underneath the bumper. It can be illuminated by twin halogen lamps mounted alongside the third taillight atop the rear cab wall. Taillight lenses are flush-mounted and impact-resistant, and they meld with amber wraparound side markers. We just wish dodge had wrapped them a little farther around the side for even better visibility. interiorthe interior is another major effort from dodge to make the new ram stand out from its full-size competition. We see nothing in here that reminds us of the last-generation pickups. While the influence is definitely truck-like, chrysler designers took their cues from the advanced interior design found in the company's very successful and stylish lh sedans.  the ram 2500's instrument cluster is housed beneath a gracefully curved padded dashtop and features a standard circular speedometer and analog oil pressure, fuel, coolant temperature and battery/voltmeter gauges. These are all easily readable through the steering wheel, which also houses an air bag - the first in any full-size pickup.  there's room for three really big adults up front with only a lap belt for the middle passenger but belts and shoulder harnesses for the driver and far-side passenger. But that's offset by a huge fold-down center console big enough to store and/or support a laptop computer or fax machine -a real convenience for workers who take the office on the road. There's also a second power receptacle next to the cigarette lighter to power or charge all that exotic equipment. Delivering 230 hp at 4000 rpm and 330 lb.-ft. Of torque at 3200 rpm, it performed smoothly and impressively in all speed ranges. Dodge says that there are about 200 different power train options with six engines, six transmissions, 2wd and 4wd choices and 49 front and rear wheel axle ratios.  turning and sharp cornering proved a little harsh and unsettling in the 4wd mode. That's more an inherent characteristic of 4wd vehicles and not a flaw in this dodge pickup's system. In an attempt to gain ground on ford and chevy in the full-size pickup race, dodge may have moved right up front. introductionits squarish design and traditional mechanical underpinnings tell us that dodge, for the most part, stopped well short of a redesign when configuring the 1994 ram wagon 250. Among options we liked were a muscular 5. 9-liter v8, abs, a premium am/fm stereo with a cassette player, a towing package and eight-passenger seating capacity. With an optional 12-passenger seating arrangement, this van would be ideal transportation for an entire little league team. Front fenders were complemented by wraparound light assemblies and a rounded grille. All the characteristics of a traditional van were present, including plenty of glass and a high road clearance. As for overall fit and workmanship, we were disappointed to discover that the grille could be moved a full half-inch by reaching behind and pulling on it. Also, the sliding cargo door on the side required a good deal of muscle to open and close, but we attributed that more to the van's conventional design than to flawed fit or poor workmanship.  from the rear, there was little to distinguish the ram wagon 250 from a traditional work or travel van, with the possible exception of curved wraparound taillight assemblies. Traditional double doors and a hefty, vinyl-covered step bumper, though functional, weren't nearly as exciting as the hydraulic liftgates and curved color-matched rear bumpers found on popular minivans. interiorit was a big step up for both driver land passengers when entering the ram wagon 250, but we were stepping into a truly roomy, high-riding van. A minimum five inches of head room, not to mention proportionate shoulder- and legroom, for everyone was one benefit of its high-roofed design.  visibility was marred only by an undersized rearview mirror and the center pillars of the rear doors, but the big side-view mirrors helped to remedy that problem.  seating and overall interior design didn't bear the slightest resemblance to advanced minivans. Middle seats could face each other to flank a walnut-grained table, or they could be folded down to sleep three kids or two modest-sized.
